FAQs

What happens if it rains?
We get wet! Shows go ahead in all weather, so come prepared with raincoats, umbrellas, sun cream and shades. We will only cancel a performance if the conditions are considered dangerous to performers or audience, which is incredibly rare. If ever in doubt, the show will almost always be going ahead.

How accessible is the venue?
We have no-step access throughout, though some slopes are quite steep. Our new toilet block includes a fully accessible toilet. We have 4 wheelchair spaces available for every performance, and free carer tickets are available for those that need someone with them. Please email ahead with your requirements and we will always do our best to accommodate you. You can read more about our accessibility HERE.

How do I book a wheelchair space?
Every event has a ‘Wheelchair position’ ticket option – simply select this when booking tickets. You can always email us with any access questions.

Can I bring a picnic?
Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring whatever food and drink you would like, but please take your litter home with you, and beware of seagulls!

Are dogs allowed?
No dogs are allowed on site, except for guide dogs.

Are you a cashless venue?
Yes we are, though you can put cash into our donation buckets.

Where can I buy tickets?
The best place to book tickets is right here on our website. You can also call the box office on 07391 357542, Mon-Fri 1pm-6pm. If a performance has not sold out then you can buy tickets at the box office on the day of a performance. We strongly recommend booking online.

What counts as a Concession?
Concession tickets are available to: over 65s, under 16s, students, NHS staff, Carers Card holders, Equity members, disabled and the unemployed. ID may be required upon entry. Children under 2 are considered babes in arms and do not require a ticket.

What is a Family of 4 ticket?
Family tickets are only available for certain shows, and allow access for 4 people, at least one of whom must be under 16.

What is the age limit for a Child ticket?
Anyone under 12 qualifies for a Child ticket.

What is a Group of 4 ticket?
This admits entry for any 4 people.

How do I receive my tickets?
You will be emailed your tickets – this email will come from Ticketsource, our ticket provider. On arrival you do not need to show us your tickets, we simply need the name of whomever booked them.

Is there allocated seating?
No – you may sit anywhere you like. Rest assured you get a great view from everywhere!

Do you have toilet facilities?
We certainly do. We have unisex toilets, a disabled access toilet and baby changing facilities on site.

Do you have waiting lists for sold-out shows?
There is a lot of interest in returns, but unfortunately we do not have the capacity to run a waiting list, or take phone numbers. What we suggest is that people come on the day, when doors open, and if we do have space then we will do our best to squeeze you in. This cannot be guaranteed and will operate on a first come, first served basis.

What is your latecomers policy?
Latecomers are allowed in – we will squeeze you in at an appropriate moment in the performance.

Why do you charge a booking fee?
The booking fee is charged by our ticketing provider – Ticketsolve – and covers the costs of using their service as well as online transaction fees.

Can I bring my child or baby to a show?
Of course – but we recommend checking the age recommendation of each show. Babes in arms (those that will not need their own seat) do not require a ticket.

Can I bring a buggy/push chair in?
You can bring them on site, but not into the seating area. We have a space where you can store buggies securely.

Can children attend shows without an adult?
Children aged 15 or under must be accompanied by an adult and have their own ticket.

Do you have a cloakroom?
No, so do bear this in mind.

Do you have wifi?
Unfortunately not, but you should get a good 4G signal.

What’s the best way to get there?
Full info on how to find us can be found on our CONTACT page.

Where can I park?
There is no free parking at BOAT, however there are pay and display options on many surrounding streets.

How can I support BOAT?
We collect donations after every performance, and you can donate online here.
