The Department of Ulterior Motives presents

The Man Who Was Thursday

Friday 23rd May

DUM proudly presents a brand-new stage adaptation of G. K. Chesterton’s classic metaphysical thriller about espionage, revenge and anarchy.

When amateur poet Rosamund Gregory’s home is destroyed in a mysterious explosion, she is recruited by a secret police organisation to infiltrate and sabotage the group of anarchists responsible. However, as she delves deeper into their ranks, she discovers that she is not the only undercover agent with a personal score to settle …

What follows is an absurd adventure that takes audiences on a whirlwind journey across London. Through daring heists, dramatic sword fights and high-speed car chases, Rosamund rallies together her newfound allies in a battle to confront the enigmatic Sunday; the leader of the anarchists.

Written by Samuel Masters, Co-Directed by Samuel Masters and Morgan Corby, this innovative adaptation is presented by The Department of Ulterior Motives (DUM), a new Brighton-based theatre company specialising in bold yet accessible reinterpretations of literature, folklore, and more!
