Simon Evans: Potted Previews
Saturday 29th July
BOAT Patron and legendary comedian Simon Evans returns home with Potted Previews – short stand-up comedy sets from Simon, as well as Dominic Frisby, Tony Law (2pm) and Steve N Allen (7pm).
Simon Evans
Simon is one of the UK’s most respected and best loved comedians. His TV credits include BBC One’s Live at the Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Roadshow, and a season of Channel 4’s Stand Up for the Week. On BBC Radio 4 his series Simon Evans Goes to Market, has had six seasons, delighting audiences with his witty and insightful take on the comedically unpromising territory of economics. He is also a regular on Radio 4’s The News Quiz, and various other panel games.
Dominic Frisby
Dominic is known for his comic songs, the most famous of which, Seventeen Million Eff Offs, a song about Brexit, reached number one on the Amazon charts. The Times says he’s “outstanding.” The Telegraph says he’s “excellent.” The Spectator says he’s “mercurially witty”. Even the Guardian admits he “can be entertaining”.
Tony Law (2pm only)
Neanderthal Canadian Trinidadian Norn Iron loon Law brings his half-baked thoughts on the last couple of years and a little time travel to boot. It might not always make sense, but it’s always funny. ‘Takes post-modern stand-up to a dangerously funny new level’ (Guardian). ‘The King of post-modern nonsense’ (Telegraph).
Steve N Allen (7pm only)
One of the stars of the ‘Last Night Mash’, Steve N Allen presents snippets of his brand-new show; ‘Alzheimer’s? I Can’t Even Remember How To Spell It’. TV credits include The Mash Report and The Late Night Mash.
