BOAT & Brighton Little Theatre presents

Kemble’s Riot

Friday 3rd May
Saturday 4th May
Sunday 5th May

I predict a riot!

To open BOAT’s tenth summer season, we are reviving our late founder Adrian Bunting’s hilarious and seminal play, Kemble’s Riot, in a first-ever co-production with Brighton Little Theatre.

Bunting’s brilliant satire sees John Kemble opening the new Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 1809, following the old theatre’s destruction by fire. But in order to pay for it, he’s had to raise ticket prices. The people object – don’t they have a right to see plays at the old prices? Why should they pay for Kemble’s new theatre? They didn’t burn it down!

This interactive and self-aware masterpiece is a joyous celebration of power through protest. Come and join the party, and pick your side!
