African Night Fever presents

Africa In The Sunshine – Evening Event

Saturday 5th July 7:00pm

African Night Fever brings the sunshine spirits of Africa to BOAT, with a full day of music, workshops, food and more, all celebrating the beauty of African culture. The day is split into two events – Afternoon and Evening. You can buy a ticket to one event, or a Full Day Ticket for both.

In the evening, we have fabulous music from Musa Mboob & Xam Xam, who blend traditional and electric instruments to create a unique African sound.

They are followed by headliner Dele Sosimi and his six-piece band. One of the UK’s most celebrated Afrobeats’ artists, Dele has been at the heart of the global Afrobeat scene since relocating to the UK in December 1995. Having started his musical career with Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80 band in his teens, he then teamed up with childhood friend Fela’s son Femi Kuti (back in the late eighties) to kick start the Positive Force – touring, recording and performing worldwide.

Over forty years later, he remains a tireless ambassador for the unique musical movement all over the world. His blend of complex funk grooves, traditional Nigerian music, African percussion and an underlying sense of jazz combines with his virtuoso keyboard skills and rhythmic singing to make him one of the most respected Afrobeat authorities of his era.

From the team behind 2024’s The Sounds of Marley.

There will also be delicious African-Caribbean food on sale from the Soul Food Sisters all day long.
